Officers Norma June Greenwell was found dead in her own home in the 200 block of Nineteen School Road on February 5. On February 6, Crowe was booked into the Ohio County Jail on charges of contempt of court and non-payment of court costs.

According to her obituary, Norma June Greenwell was a great-grandmother, an Avon representative, church member and worked with various 4-H groups.

Local, state and federal authorities were investigating the incident as a home invasion gone wrong.
