KINGS COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Two Kings County Sheriff’s deputies have been honored for their “extraordinary acts of bravery,” during a ceremony held at the Kings County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, attended by fellow deputies, community leaders, and family members.

According to the Kings County Sheriff’s Office, Senior Deputy Eric Johnson was awarded the Silver Star for his role in locating two at-risk missing individuals following an extensive search.

Officials say Johnson’s quick thinking and decisive action saved lives and showcased exceptional dedication under severe time constraints.

Senior Deputy Josh Chavez was awarded the Medal of Valor for his “courageous response during a volatile situation.” Officials say Chavez confronted an armed suspect, ensuring the safety of both civilians and fellow deputies.

“Senior Deputy Eric Johnson and Senior Deputy Josh Chavez represent the very best of our department,” Kings County Sheriff Dave Robinson said. “Their heroism and commitment to protecting our community are an inspiration to us all. We are incredibly proud of their actions and grateful for their service.”
