SkyCam 9 flew over the park Monday morning and observed a few tents still up in the park located on the city’s Northwest Side, but not nearly as many tents compared to how many there were during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many tents began popping up in the park during the COVID-19 pandemic, eventually taking over a portion of the park.
Last week, crews removed structures that contained heating sources believed to be responsible for recent fires.
Supporters of the homeless encampment, however, argue the unhoused are being denied their rights.
The City of Chicago was supposed to begin an “accelerated moving event” Monday to completely clear out the park and help people find stable housing.
That project will now start Wednesday, March 5, and could last as long as a month.
