NFL star, Lafayette native to be Grand Marshal of Youngsville Mardi Gras parade
YOUNGSVILLE, La. (KLFY) — The 2025 Youngsville Mardi Gras parade will feature someone familiar to football fans of all stripes.
Malik Nabers, a Lafayette native, former LSU football standout and current wide receiver for the New York Giants, will serve as the Grand Marshal of the 2025 Youngsville parade.
Nabers attended Comeaux High School before transferring to and graduating from Southside High before playing at LSU.
Selected sixth overall on the NFL Draft by the New York Giants, Nabers set an NFL record for most receptions by a rookie wide receiver, totaling 109 catches for 1,204 yards and 7 touchdowns, earning him a Pro Bowl selection in 2025.
Youngsville Mayor Ken Ritter called Nabers “a true success story.”
“From his roots in Acadiana to his achievements on the national stage, he has made us all proud,” Ritter said, in a news release. “We are thrilled to welcome him home to Youngsville and celebrate his accomplishments as the Grand Marshal of the 2025 Youngsville Mardi Gras Parade. His dedication and perseverance serve as an inspiration to young athletes across our region.”
The Youngsville Mardi Gras Parade will roll Saturday, March 1 starting at 11 a.m. The parade route will be the same as last year’s route, beginning at Finnegan Way at Fairhaven neighborhood and ending at the intersection of Iberia Street and Lafayette Street.

Nabers said he is eager to come home.
“Youngsville has always shown me love, and it means a lot to come back and be part of such a special tradition,” Nabers said. “I’m excited to celebrate with everyone and be part of this amazing community event.”
