Atmospheric river to dump more than 4 inches of rain on Oregon Coast
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An incoming atmospheric river is forecast to drench Oregon’s northern coast with more than 4 inches of rain between Saturday afternoon and Monday morning.

KOIN 6 Meteorologist Josh Cozart predicts 3.5 inches of rain in Astoria, 4.2 inches of rain in Cannon Beach and 4 inches of rain in Tillamook.

“Nearly four inches of rain along the Oregon Coast isn’t unheard of over several days, but it is enough to cause minor flooding in low areas and around streams and rivers,” Cozart said.

The Portland area, meanwhile, is forecast to see more than 2 inches of rain between Saturday and Monday morning. Portland will also see warmer temperatures in the upper 50s through the weekend. Temperatures could reach 60 degrees by Wednesday.

“Warmer, spring-like conditions are expected to build after the Pacific Northwest’s latest atmospheric river clears,” Cozart said. “This warmer weather pattern will help end February on a warm and dry note for the Portland area.”
