The mayor’s office is working with St. Vincent de Paul and the Baton Rouge Police Department. The shelter has extended its hours until 8 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and will offer transportation for those in need.
The mayor announced that officers would patrol the streets. They will look for people in need of shelter and take them to safety.
“No one should have to endure freezing temperatures on the streets of Baton Rouge,” said Edwards. “We are working around the clock to ensure that every unhoused individual has access to warmth, food, and shelter. I urge anyone in need—or anyone who sees someone in distress—to reach out for help.”
If you see someone needing shelter, call BRPD or send them to St. Vincent de Paul before 8 p.m.
