Officials said Jean Anderson, of Opelousas, was caught attempting to break into Lagniappe Pharmacy, located in the 1700 block of South Union Street Tuesday, around 1 a.m.
Officials said, when they approached the scene, Anderson attempted to flee, abandoning his vehicle, which was parked at an abandoned residence nearby. Officials searched the area, finding Anderson several blocks away and he was arrested without further incident.
Anderson was charged with attempted simple burglary of a pharmacy and resisting an officer.
Following the arrest, officials said, they found evidence in Anderson’s vehicle linking him to burglaries at Glenn’s Pharmacy and another pharmacy in Evangeline Parish.
There is currently no information on Anderson’s bond and the investigation is still ongoing.
