Loyola, Columbia College issue sexual assault warnings

CHICAGO — Loyola University and Columbia College recently issued alerts to students and staff regarding recent sexual assaults on-campus.

Three sexual assaults happened Monday night on the campus of Loyola University. They all involve an unknown male suspect who touched or grabbed students’ buttocks.

The first one took place in front of Campion Hall at around 8:37 p.m. The male then walked to the north stairs of Mertz Hall where he touched a student approximately one minute later.

The final assault took place near the corner of Loyola and Sheridan at around 8:41 p.m. before fleeing to the Red Line station.

He was seen wearing a grey and black puffy coat, khaki color pants, white shoes and carrying a brightly-colored shopping bag.

Anyone with information about a crime is encouraged to immediately contact campus safety at 773-508-7233.

Columbia College Chicago issued an alert Tuesday related to a similar situation. At around 9:30 a.m. outside the Harold Washington Library, on Van Buren near State, a person grabbed the lower body of a woman.

No other details were provided. It’s unknown if the assaults are being done by the same suspect.
