Police: Rockford man uses a belt to cause bodily harm to a 5-year-old

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Mario Martin, 51, for allegedly causing bodily harm to a 5-year-old boy.

On Jan. 5, the child was taken to a local hospital for multiple bruises.

Martin is accused of using a belt to strike the child multiple times, according to court records.

After further examination, the child’s injuries were determined to be caused by a belt and were consistent with child abuse.

Martin is charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm to a child and domestic battery causing bodily harm.
