According to the Shreveport Police Department, just after 5 a.m. officers responded to a stolen vehicle report of a UPS truck. They say the driver of the truck, Skylar Jarvis, refused to stop and led police on a chase through the city.
Police say that chase led to Jarvis crashing into a Shreveport police vehicle.
Shreveport Police Personal information officer says after the crash the truck left the roadway and then crashed on Interstate 49 near the Bert Kouns Industrial loop exit. Police also say the UPS truck was full of packages, narcotics, and dangerous substances, as well as firearms.
Jarvis was arrested with the help of a K9 officer.
“Jarvis now faces many different charges starting with aggravated flight from an officer, attempted first-degree murder, as well as theft of the vehicle, but there are further charges coming.” said Cpl. Chris Bordelon.
SPD is still diligently working to determine if this case was targeted or a random act. The officers on the scene say Jarvis appeared to be under the influence.
