57-year-old man dies after being shot in chest in Auburn Gresham; suspect was on scene, in custody, police say
CHICAGO — A 57-year-old man died after being shot in the chest overnight in a home in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the city’s South Side.
According to Chicago police, officers responded to a person shot in the 8500 block of South Parnell Avenue around 3:15 a.m. Sunday and found the man inside a residence with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.

Police say a preliminary investigation indicates the victim was shot by a 60-year-old woman, who was still on scene when officers arrived. A weapon was recovered and the woman was placed in custody, according to police.
