Man, 23, dies after being found shot, unresponsive on South Side sidewalk

CHICAGO — A man has died after being found unresponsive on a sidewalk on the city’s South Side.

The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday on the 1400 block of West 77th Street in Auburn Gresham.

Police said officers were on patrol and heard gunshots. While touring the area, police discovered a 23-year-old man unresponsive on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The man was transported in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. A firearm was recovered on scene.

No one in custody and Area Two Detectives are investigating.
