HAMMOND, La. (KLFY) — A St. Martinville truck driver has been arrested and charged with child pornography involving a baby, authorities said.
Devon Poirier, 33 of St. Martinville, is charged with three counts of pornography involving juveniles under 13.
Last month, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit began investigating the transmission of video files involving the sexual abuse of an infant being shared through an online chat platform. Investigators said Poirier, an over-the-road truck driver who travels the country, was identified as the source of the transmissions.
Following the arrest a search of his truck uncovered more than 30 electronic devices which will be examined for evidence, officials said.
He was taken into custody Feb. 6, by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office and is awaiting transport to the Tangipahoa Parish jail. Bond details were not released.
