The crash occurred on MS-16 near Ratliff Road just before 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8.
Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) said a 1993 Peterbilt truck was hauling farm equipment west on MS-16 when it collided with a 2020 Nissan Altima that was traveling east on the highway.
The driver of the Nissan, Ashley Stephens, 40, of Carthage, received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 70-year-old passenger in the Nissan was transported to Baptist Medical Center in Carthage with unknown injuries.
Troopers said the driver of the Peterbilt received no injuries. The crash remains under investigation by MHP.
