One killed, three injured in Hinds County crash

HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – One person died and three others were injured during a multi-vehicle crash in Hinds County.

The crash occurred on Highway 18 near Cidero Road just before noon on Saturday, February 1.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP), a 2018 Cadillac XT5, a 2008 Toyota, a 2018 Nissan Murano and a 2020 Dodge Ram were involved in the crash. They said the Cadillac collided head-on with the Toyota and then side-swiped with the Dodge, causing the Toyota to collide with the Nissan.

The driver of the Toyota, Melissa Berryhill Spencer, 45, of Utica, received fatal injuries from the crash and died at the scene.

Troopers said the driver of the Cadillac was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson with unknown injuries. The driver and passenger of the Nissan were transported to UMMC with unknown injuries. The driver of the Dodge was not injured.

This crash remains under investigation by MHP.
