Winter storm and flooding: What NWS Hanford is predicting

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting possible flooding in Yosemite Valley and surrounding communities and has issued a winter storm warning for Kings Canyon, eastern Fresno County, and other areas of the national park.

According to NWS’s Hanford office, Bass Lake, Mariposa, Fish Camp, Yosemite Valley, Oakhurst, Coarsegold, El Portal, and North Fork could receive up to three inches of rain. The flood watch remains in effect until late Saturday night.

The NWS has also issued a Winter Storm Warning for Kings Canyon and Yosemite national parks and the Upper San Joaquin River until 4 p.m. Sunday. They say snow could reach three feet and winds could gust as high as 55 mph.
