The bags displayed here symbolize the joy of one child who will wake up on Christmas morning to find presents under the tree. Captain Rachel McCain reported that this year, they were able to assist 280 families who qualify for the Angel Tree program based on their income. McCain attributes the ongoing success of this initiative to the generosity of the community and the dedication of volunteers.
“Remember on Christmas morning, when you wake up, that hope was restored in a family somewhere in Abilene because you decided to come and give of your time and your resources, and that never gets old. That’s always such a blessing to know that we have the ability to serve others and bring hope and joy on such a special time of year,” McCain shared.
Volunteers of all ages worked diligently to ensure families received their items. It’s not just gifts; families were also provided with a bag filled with food for the perfect Christmas dinner.
