Children hospitalized following Ponchatoula multi-vehicle crash

Around 6:27 p.m., PPD officers responded to the scene of a three vehicle crash with injuries on Highway 51 North near St. Patrick’s Boulevard.

Vehicles involved were a Chevy Silverado, GMC terrain and a Hyundai Tuscon. The investigation revealed nine passengers were involved including three children ages 2, 5 and 7, who were all air lifted to hospitals.

All other injured passengers were taken to different hospitals including North Oak Medical Center, Lakeview Hospital and Our Lady of the Lake-Children’s Hospital.

Two drivers submitted blood kits as the crash remains under investigation.

PPD Chief Layrisson is asking for witnesses to step forward with any information about the crash.
