NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Day two of the 2025 MLB Draft saw several baseball talents from Louisiana schools learn their professional destinations.

In the sixth round, LSU’s Daniel Dickinson was drafted 185th overall by the Milwaukee Brewers.

In the ninth round, LSU’s Jared Jones was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates with the 263rd overall pick. Jones smacked 22 home runs last season and led the SEC in RBIs with 76.

Five picks later, the Boston Red Sox selected LSU reliever and former Nicholls starter Jacob Mayers with the 268th overall pick.

The final pick of the ninth round was Southeastern slugger Conner O’Neal. The Los Angeles Dodgers selected O’Neal 285th overall.

O’Neal led the Lions with 14 home runs last season.

The Atlanta Braves drafted LSU pitcher Kade Woods in the tenth round after two appearances with the Tigers this season.

The first Tulane baseball player taken on day two was pitcher Tayler Montiel. The Arizona Diamondbacks selected the Green Wave pitcher with the 363rd pick in the 12th round.

In the 14th round of the draft, the Yankees select the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Year. New York selected Brennan Stuprich with the 434th pick in the draft.

The selection reunites Stuprich with former Southeastern pitcher Will Warren in the Yankees organization.

In round 15, the Royals select another Tulane standout in Connor Rasmussen with the 458th pick.

Rasmussen was one of Tulane’s most reliable bats since transferring from East Carolina. The Royals drafted Michael Lombardi in the second round.

Moments later, the New York Mets selected LSU pitcher Conner Ware with the 263rd pick. Ware saw 16 appearances and six starts in the Tigers’ national championship run.

Southern’s Cardell Thobodeaux was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 16th round of the draft. Thibodeaux was the SWAC Player and Newcomer of the Year.
