Saints LG Trevor Penning, DE Chase Young won’t play in opener vs. Cardinals

METAIRIE, La. (WGNO)- Saints head coach Kellen Moore announced left guard Trevor Penning (toe) and defensive end Chase Young (calf) won’t play in the opener against the Cardinals.

Penning has been dealing with a turf toe injury since the preseason opener against the Chargers. He has been out of a walking boot since last week, but won’t be able to suit up on Sunday.

Chase Young first popped up on the injury report on Wednesday as he was limited with a calf injury. He didn’t practice on Thursday and is now ruled out.

Safety Jordan Howden is questionable with an oblique injury. Kickoff on Sunday is at noon.
