NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The LSU Tigers took care of business beating the Arkansas Razorbacks for the second time at the College World Series.
Since the win, Pam Randazza, owner of the Black and Gold Shop, said purple and gold merchandise is flying off the shelves.
“We see a lot of LSU baseball jerseys. We stock a lot of our canvases, and we’re starting to run out of a lot of LSU baseball jerseys. So, baseball jerseys are huge, and everything with anything with LSU on it,” said Randazza.
She believes as long as the Tigers keep winning, local businesses will always have fans coming in for last-minute items.
“Just get people really pumped up. The people are pouring in. They’ve already spent all night looking for tickets and plane tickets. A lot of people are headed to Omaha, southwest,” said Randazza.
One of those booking a flight to Omaha is LSU super fan Mike Serio, who is confident that this is the year.
“I think every year I go up there thinking, ‘Hey, we got a chance.’ We have a chance to win, and this year, it looks really good. We have a really good team. We got great pitching. Everybody plays like they are supposed to play,” said Serio.
Just two wins away from winning it all, if LSU wins, it will be the eighth national championship in the program’s history.
Serio says this would be a huge accomplishment, as if they win, it’ll be for the second time in three seasons.
“It’s incredible. I mean, it means we’re back to, like, the Skip Bertman days. We dominated in the ’90s. You know, ’91, ’93, ’96, ’97 to 2000. It’s a lot of championships,” said Serio.
LSU will face off against Coastal Carolina in the College World Series finals, beginning with game one Saturday night at 6 p.m. on ESPN.
