The first sip of a crisp, refreshing drink is often a welcome relief from the heat and a way to embrace the summer vibes.
Sam Trevethyen with Reyka Vodka says clear spirits and sunshine are a match made in heaven.
Tales of the Cocktail is underway in New Orleans, meaning plenty of cocktail experts and enthusiasts are in the city. Trevethyen joined us on the Twist set to shake up three summer sippers featuring Reyka Vodka.

Iceland Spritz🍹
This drink can be enjoyed by the pool, out with friends or relaxing at home. Trevethyen recommends sharing this cocktail with friends because “it is just so refreshing.”
- 2 parts Reyka Vodka
- 6 parts Raspberry & Ruharb Tonic
Instructions: Build over ice in a large wineglass and garnish with fresh berries.
Reyka Dirty Martini🍸
Dirty martinis are having their moment right now, and Trevethyen says this particular cocktail is playful and allows the vodka to shine as “the funkiness and the salinity of the brine juxtaposes beautifully with the cleanliness of the vodka.”
- 2 parts Reyka Vodka
- 1/2 part Vermouth
- 1/2 part Olive Brine
Instructions: Add vodka, vermouth and olive brine to a shaker with ice. Shake until the drink is chilled. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with olives.
Pro Tip: Trevethyen says if you think you’re making a silly face while shaking the cocktail, you know you’re doing it right!
Puffin Collins🍅
Trevethyen says the tomatoes in this drink pair well the other ingredients because they add depth and savoriness to the sweetness of the elderflower cordial and the cleanliness of the vodka. “Tomatoes have this sweetness and acidity but also this kind of umami, savory bite.”
- 2 parts Reyka Vodka
- 1 1/12 part Pink Grapefruit Juice
- 3/4 part Elderflower Cordial
- 1 Cherry Tomato
- 2 parts Soda Water
Instructions: Muddle the cherry tomato in a shaker and add the rest of the ingredients except the soda water. Shake and strain into a highball glass with ice. Top with soda and garnish with half a cherry tomato
Pro Tip: Trevethyen says you never want to add something with fizz to a shaker. “Trust me when I say it is not something you want to happen.”
