BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Louisiana Board of Regents gave a Friday update on the state Office of Student Financial Assistance after a cyber incident.

Officials said the state’s 529 college START savings program sees increased functionality as staff address transaction backlogs. Account holders should see updated information in the next week, and can now request disbursements.

“Transactions are being processed in the order in which they were received. In addition, account holders with regularly scheduled ACH debit transactions are being contacted directly by email to inform them when debits will resume and to give them an opportunity to make an optional one-time payment to address missed October deposits,” the Board of Regents said.

System monitoring continues, and a timeline for full operations restored will be shared later.

Anyone with questions about their START accounts is directed to contact start@laregents.edu or 225-206-5303.
