Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off heading to Slidell

SLIDELL, La. (WGNO) — The Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off is heading to the Northshore for the first time in its 18th year.

Organizers said the annual event, which started in 2008, will be held at the Harbor Center in Slidell on June 27.

Chefs from across the state will compete for the title of King or Queen of Louisiana Seafood. Organizers said the winner will represent the state at various events and the Great American Seafood Cook-Off, which will be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on Aug. 2.

“We are excited to hold this outstanding competition on the Northshore as we continue to share this amazing culinary event with everyone in the state. Louisiana is a place where you can Feed Your Soul, and what better way than by cooking up some of the best seafood in the world found right here in Louisiana,” said Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser in a news release.

Additionally, this year’s event will reportedly include tastings from 15 St. Tammany Parish restaurants participating in Tammany Taste of Summer, which runs through August.

Cook-Off organizers said the deadline for chefs to enter is May 30. For more information, visit the event page on the Louisiana Seafood website.
