“I was shocked,” said Mike Serio. “I don’t want to knock him too much, but the guy was a bad fit.”
Others saw it coming.
“It was bound to happen,” said TJ Flowers. “I’m kind of excited because I’m tired of losing. He ain’t part of the culture, so it was only right.”
Jessica Inscore said it’s about winning at LSU. “I don’t think I was really surprised. With a program like LSU, you really need a coach who comes in and wins those big games.”
One fan didn’t even realize the news had broken, but wasn’t shocked when he heard.
“My comment is, what took so long? The anticipation has been killing me.”
Austin Shaw added, “I haven’t met anybody that isn’t happy about it so far.”
And for Jerome Jones, it’s simple.
“It’s been a rough weekend for Louisiana sports. But I think people are relieved, because we’re ready for a winner,” Jones said.
From Pat O’s to Walk-On’s, fans debated who should take over next.
“Saban would be awesome,” one fan laughed, “but he’s not going to come.”
“I’d love to see Ed back. Either that or Lane Kiffin,” Flowers said.
“Lane would have to be at the top of the list he’s come a long way,” Sergio agreed.
Others mentioned Penn State’s James Franklin or even Nick Saban himself.
“If I could pick anyone, I want Nick Saban to come back,” said Shaw.
As the coaching search begins, fans say their loyalty isn’t going anywhere.
“I’m excited. It was time for a change,” said Jones.
“We need somebody who’s going to come in and win,” said Flowers.
