According to the Louisiana Supreme Court, applicants will be able to apply online for a protective order, saving time and eliminating the need to travel to a courthouse. The portal will be administered by the Louisiana Protective Order Registry. It will be accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Court officials said they have contracted with the National Center for State Courts to assist with planning, design and development of the portal to ensure national standards and best practices are implemented.
Supreme Court officials said the portal is part of the Louisiana Judiciary’s ongoing efforts to address domestic violence.
