NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Another name is joining the race for New Orleans Mayor.

Frank Scurlock, a local businessman, announced his candidacy for New Orleans mayor July 7. Scurlock ran unsuccessfully for mayor in 2017. He said he wants to give New Orleans a fresh start by upgrading infrastructure and increasing law enforcement.

“The City of New Orleans needs to be reborn starting at city hall regardless of anything or anyone who gets in our way,” Scurlock said. “We are not only proud; we – the citizens of New Orleans – are determined to take our city back and return it to the people who call New Orleans home.”

Scurlock joins several other candidates, including city council members Helena Moreno and Oliver Thomas, state senator Royce Duplessis and former judge Arthur Hunter.
