LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — The Louisiana State Police has released new evidence in the crash reportedly involving LSU football player Kyren Lacey.

On Tuesday, Oct. 7, troopers released a crash report that includes security footage from a nearby business, showing an overview of what lead up to the fatal crash on Dec. 17, 2024.

Around 10 a.m., troopers reported responding to the crash scene at Louisiana Highway 20 near Perex Lane. Responding troopers said they learned 24-year-old Kyren Lacy was headed south on the highway in a green Dodge Charger “driving recklessly past multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed.”

According to the trooper’s investigation, the crash reconstruction shows Lacy’s position during the collision.

Witnesses in the video are heard making claims that Lacy was the cause of the crash. Additionally, there was a written witness statement noting “This lime green car passed us up and the two cars in front of us with oncoming traffic. The car had to put its brakes on to avoid being hit by the green car.”

The crash resulted in the death of 78-year-old Herman Hall.

Lacy’s tags were identified during the investigation, and on Jan. 12, he was arrested and originally booked on charges of negligent homicide, felony hit and run and reckless operation of a vehicle.

In April, Lacy died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound inside his car while in Houston, Texas.

“The Louisiana State Police is committed to providing a thorough and objective investigation grounded in science and supported by facts. LSP relied on proven methods from forensic analysis, crash reconstructions, and comprehensive evidence review to uncover the full truth,” said LSP troopers.
