NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A New Orleans motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Jefferson Parish on Thursday, June 12.
According to Louisiana State Police, the crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. on US 90 at Monticello Avenue. 64-year-old Mason Stevenson was driving east on US 90 on a 2019 Indian Motorcycle when a 2016 Toyota Highlander reportedly began turning left directly in the path of the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to hit the passenger side of the Toyota.
Though Stevenson was wearing a helmet approved by the Department of Transportation, he suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Monday, June 16.
Louisiana State Police say the Toyota’s driver was properly restrained by a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was uninjured.
The crash remains under investigation, and LSP officials said, “Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.”
