There’s an artist in Metairie that created a whole Halloween display based off the movie, with additional characters and a New Orleans theme.
WGNO’s Kenny Lopez takes us to the “Hocus Pocus Masquerade House” at 4709 Lorino Street in Metairie.
The Sanderson sisters from “Hocus Pocus” aren’t in Salem, but they are in Metairie in this front yard.
A witchingly, crafty spell was cast on artist, “NOLA JUJU’s” front yard. He used his cauldron of creativity to create this Halloween display.
“On this side we have Sarah Sanderson and Mary Sanderson, putting a spell on you,” NOLA JuJu, the artist of the Hocus Pocus Masquerade House said.
“I actually tagged Bette Midler on social media hoping that she’d see it,” he said.
Along with Winifred the witch, all the other “Hocus Pocus” characters are here.
“We have Danny as a Saintsation. We have the mom dressed as Madonna from Hocus Pocus, then we have Max as 610 Stomper holding salt,” he said.
NOLA JuJu said, “All the pieces are hand-drawn, and hand painted on plywood. They are weathered, sealed and treated, so they last all season. Nothing came from the store other than the materials. Everything you see is handmade. I started developing everything in January, and then it took four days to put them up.”
A fun fact about NOLA JuJu is he played Gaston from “Beauty and the Best” at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
A few other party guests were invited to this spooky soiree.
“This is Morgus the Magnificent, and right here we have the Mande Milkshakers,” he said.
This year there are also tributes to first responders with a New Orleans Firefighter and a New Orleans Police Officer.
This is the 15th anniversary for NOLA JuJu to decorate his front yard for Halloween.
“Kind of tried to keep traditions going and create family moments and create positivity and bring the neighborhood together,” he said.
Every Friday they host a neighborhood party in front of the house where they give out little gift bags for the neighborhood kids.
