The song was produced by Kent Wells, who’s produced for superstar Dolly Parton and co-written with Bill DiLuigi.

Shaw said that the song blends Louisiana roots and Americana storytelling and turns it into a survival anthem about personal and collective loss.

“It’s about the placed we once knew, the moments frozen in time, and how Katrina took more than homes, it took entire worlds, but it also showed us our strength and determination to carry us forward,” Shaw said.

“Before Katrina” is available now on all major streaming platforms. Stream it now.
