EPA releases water quality tests after Smitty’s explosion
TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WGNO) — The Environmental Protection Agency has released the results of water samples taken from the Tangipahoa River.

The EPA said the tests found levels of various metals, like Barium, Zinc and Iron. They also detected elevated levels of oil.

The samples were taken upstream in Kentwood and downstream in Independence. Parts of the Tangipahoa River remain closed.
