Back in March, Perry performed at the Krewe of Endymion’s Extravaganza at the Caesars Superdome for Mardi Gras. After she performed some of her biggest hits like “I Kissed a Girl,” “Teenage Dream,” “California Girls,” Dark Horse,” “Firework,” and “Roar,” she was presented with a very special proclamation from New Orleans City Councilmember Helena Moreno.
Moreno officially announced that March 1 will be now known as “Katy Perry Day” in New Orleans.
Along with Perry, TV talk show host Gayle King and journalist Lauren Sanchez reportedly launched into space for 11 minutes. Also sharing the ride were film producer Kerianne Flynn; Aisha Bowe, a former NASA engineer; and Amanda Nguyen, a scientist.
Gayle King reportedly said in an interview after the Blue Origin mission that Katy Perry sang “What a Wonderful World,” which is a song by New Orleans musician Louis Armstrong.
