ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office is investigating a “mysterious death” case after a body was found on the Twin Span bridge.

According to Dr. Christopher Tape, around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, Louisiana State Police were alerted of a body in the east bound lane of the highway near mile marker 260. The body was recovered and identified as Edashia Emonni Caraway of Appleton, Wisconsin.

An investigation revealed Caraway was in town to celebrate what would have been her 27th birthday, a trip her family paid for. She was expected to fly home on Tuesday.

Investigators were able to locate her hotel room for LSP troopers to process and collect evidence.

An autopsy was conducted as well as an exam by a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. Tape recorded the cause of death as multiple blunt force injuries due to “vehicle-vs-pedestrian impact.”

Caraway’s death was ruled a homicide from a hit-and-run.

Anyone with information on the case can call STPSO at 985-781-1150.
