SLIDELL, La. (WGNO) — A Slidell woman was arrested on Monday after she allegedly paid for multiple luxuries, including a Lamborghini and plastic surgery, while fraudulently remaining on government assistance.
According to Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill, 35-year-old Candace Taylor, of Rousset Ridge in Slidell, was being investigated by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation after a complaint came from the Louisiana Department of Health accusing Taylor of committing Medicaid recipient fraud.
Investigators say the alleged crimes occurred between 2020 and 2024, with her multiple businesses reportedly earning over $9.5 million in revenue throughout that time.
According to the affidavit, in 2020, she allegedly claimed to have no income and was approved for Medicaid.
During those four years, investigators said Taylor reportedly made deposits of over $480,000, over $45,000 in car payments to Audi Finance, multiple six-figure withdrawals for property purchases, paid for cosmetic surgery, high-end jewelry, luxury services and purchased a 2022 Lamborghini Urus.
Taylor was arrested on July 28 and booked into the East Baton Rouge Prison, where she is facing a charge of government benefits fraud.
