AVONDALE, La. (WGNO) — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s is investigating after a man was killed in an Avondale shooting overnight.

According to deputies, around 12:50 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 1, they were called to the scene of a shooting outside a business in the 3000 block of U.S. Highway 90.

Responding deputies arrived and came in contact with 25-year-old Semaj Brown who allegedly told them he had been involved in the incident.

The victim was found lying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, said JPSO deputies. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Through the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued. JPSO deputes arrested Brown and booked him into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on an allegation of second-degree murder.

The victim’s identity will be released after an autopsy is done and the family is notified.
