BELLE CHASSE, La. (WGNO) — The Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a domestic disturbance that turned deadly in Belle Chasse.
PPSO Deputies report that at 5 a.m. on Sunday, June 29, they were called to the scene of a shooting on Tau Street.
Upon arrival, deputies found the victim, who EMS pronounced dead on the scene.
While on scene, PPSO deputies reported spotting a vehicle that was allegedly involved, leaving the area. They attempted to stop the driver but instead were led on a police chase that crossed the city limits of New Orleans and Jefferson Parish.
One PPSO unit was involved in a crash during the chase. No one was injured.
In partnership with Louisiana State Police, PPSO deputies said they ended the chase on Interstate 10 in Jefferson Parish and arrested the suspect.
The homicide investigation remains ongoing. The victim’s identity has not been released at this time.
