NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A man was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 26 in connection with a trooper-involved shooting in New Orleans.

According to the Louisiana State Police, 19-year-old Anthony Rios-Flores of New Orleans was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center and faces charges of aggravated flight from an officer, speeding and two counts of hit-and-run. The investigation is ongoing.

According to the LSP, the trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver failed to comply, and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The suspect vehicle turned onto Pleasure Street and came to a stop at a dead end.

While attempting to flee, the driver reversed toward the troopers and struck an LSP-marked patrol unit. At that time, the trooper fired his weapon. No one was injured.
