THIBODAUX, La. (WGNO) — A man is being accused of attempted murder and other charges following a shooting which happened in Thibodaux on May 11.
According to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, the night of the incident, deputies responded to a woman’s home after it was reportedly hit by at least four rounds of gunfire. On scene, multiple shell casings were found, but no suspects were identified.
Later, detectives say they identified 34-year-old Brian Carcisse as a suspect in the shooting and a search warrant was obtained for the home where he was staying.
During the search, which took place on June 12, Carcisse was found and detained. Investigators said they also allegedly found ammunition, three handguns, one of which was reported stolen in 2019, over 150 grams of suspected marijuana packed in a way associated with selling narcotics, and oxycodone pills.
Carcisse was initially arrested on weapon and drug charges before evidence later showed that he was allegedly responsible for shooting at the woman’s home back in May, reportedly attempting to hit her. His bail has been set at $290,000 and he has been charged with the following crimes:
- Attempted second-degree murder.
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
- Possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
- Possession of oxycodone.
- Illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
- Illegal possession of a stolen firearm.
- Three more counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
