French Quarter carjacking leaves one dead: NOPD
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a French Quarter carjacking that left a person dead Thursday, Oct. 9.

Officer said around 8:37 p.m., a 61-year-old man was reportedly involved in a struggle with the alleged carjacker, at the corner of Bienville and Burgundy streets, when the vehicle rolled and pinned him underneath.

The suspect left the scene.

The man was taken to a hospital where later died from his injuries.

No further details are available at this time. The NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine a possible suspect and motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity after an autopsy is done and the family is notified.
