Coolinary 2025: Galatoire's
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A powerhouse in the French Quarter, Galatoire’s comes from humble beginnings. This year the restaurant is celebrating a milestone birthday, 120 years!

Melvin Rodrigue is the CEO over at Galatoire’s. He spoke with our Amy Russo about what they’re serving up on the Coolinary menu this year.

“It [Coolinary] gives chef an opportunity to play around a little bit and have some fun with the local ingredients,” said Rodrigue. “We are going to have an escargot and herb saint cream.
We’re also going to have some locally caught Des Allemands catfish over corn maque choux. Also, because it’s summer, we have a beautiful, arugula and grilled watermelon salad topped with fried oysters and done with pickled onion. Lastly, we’re going to do a bronzed gulf shrimp over eggplant jam.”

Best of all, those are just a FEW of the menu options.

Rodrigue says that catfish dish is a New Orleans classic, but not something that’s on the regular Galatoire’s menu, so get it while you can!

Galatoire’s was founded in 1905 by Jean Galatoire – and now the restaurant is into the fifth generation of the Galatoire’s family. “One of the things that really makes us who we are are those families that have been coming here as guests for generations.”

Another aspect of the restaurant is the ambiance. Mirrors line the walls and no music is blasted throughout the building. “Everything that you see and hear in the room is created by the guests that you’re dining with,” said Rodrigue.

Galatoire’s has a coolinary lunch menu for $28, the dinner menu is $58. Click HERE to check it out. The restaurant is located at 209 Bourbon Street.
