Dumpling Dojo Opens Second Location in Hackensack

Dumpling Dojo opened a new spot at 260 South Summit Ave. in Hackensack on May 1. This marks the second restaurant for owner Joseph Fucarino. The first built a following in Rutherford before branching out to the new space.

Hours run seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 10:45 p.m. Fucarino said demand from existing customers drove the decision to expand into Hackensack.

“We chose Hackensack because we thought the area would really enjoy Asian street food and our menu,” he said, according to North Jersey. “There’s nothing like us in the area, and we have so many people from the area that travel to Rutherford, and we want to give them a closer option.”

The new space will feature a hot food bar designed for quicker service. Events will happen here too.

Fucarino began as a carpenter before moving into the food industry. He worked as a dishwasher, delivery driver, busser, server, and head chef before becoming an owner, according to the company website.

That hands-on experience shaped the menu and how things run. The business emphasizes adaptability and customer feedback.

The company weathered disruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic. It came out with renewed focus, describing its trajectory as one of resilience and reinvention.

At the Hackensack spot, the menu reflects a blend of traditional influences and modern touches. Customer and collaborator input shaped what’s offered.

Fucarino said engagement with the local area will remain a priority. “We want them to know that we are excited for them to come and try us out,” he said. “We have many options available for everyone, and we are here to always support our community in any way possible.”
