Bloomington police investigating serious crash at Curry Pike and West Third after Subaru struck, pushed into gas pump

Bloomington, Ind. – April 21, 2026

The Bloomington Police Department is still investigating a two car collision that occurred Friday night around 9:58 p.m. and wasn’t cleaned up until early Saturday morning.

The crash involved a Hyundai and a Subaru, police said the Hyundai was traveling southbound on Curry Pike when it struck the Subaru that was headed West through the intersection. Police said after viewing a nearby video recording, it appeared the Hyundai driver was traveling south at a high rate of speed before staking the Subaru. However, police are getting a court order to look at the data stored on the computer of the 2025 Hyundai car.

Police said the driver of the Subaru reported losing consciousness after the collision. The Subaru was flung by the collision into a gas pump at the Marathon gas station located on the Southwest corner of the intersection.

Police will review the event recorder data from the Hyundai to get the vehicles’s speed, and other data. The driver of the vehicle took a toxicology test but the results won’t be back for several weeks. The Bloomington Police will get help from the Indiana State Police, which has specialized equipment to pull the car’s data, and the crash is still under investigation.

The CT scans showed that nothing is broken for either of us, so that’s good news.

My friend has a contusion on his left side. The doctor said I just have bruising on my lungs. My head spins when I move, and my hips hurt really bad.

A guy T-boned us, hitting the passenger side where I was sitting. We got hit so hard that we ended up crashing into a gas pump” The passenger said the driver of the other vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed.
