Avengers: Doomsday Cast Update

Cassie Lang actor Kathryn Newton has celebrated her return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a tiny director’s chair, just like her Avengers father, Ant-Man, received during the Doomsday cast reveal last year.

As confirmed by the Avengers: Doomsday trailer shown off during Disney’s CinemaCon 2026 presentation (we have a recap of what happens here), Newton will reprise her role as Ant-Man’s daughter in this December’s blockbuster sequel, having played the character in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

In Quantumania, a teenage/young-adult Cassie Lang becomes an active hero with her own suit, and helps Ant-Man defeat Kang the Conqueror in the Quantum Realm.

Following the news, Newton posted a video to Instagram, below, in which she unpacked a box containing a tiny director’s chair with her name on the back. It’s a fun reference to Marvel Studios’ initial reveal of the Avengers: Doomsday cast, which slowly unveiled actor names on the back of director chairs.

“It’s tiny because Cassie Lang gets tiny,” Newton says in the clip. “She’s small. But sometimes she’s big. It depends what’s happening.”

Paul Rudd, who plays Cassie Lang’s father, Scott Lang, also got a tiny director’s chair during the Doomsday cast reveal. So, it’s safe to assume both characters will be shrinking down for their next adventure.

In March last year, Rudd talked about his chair announcement. “I thought, ‘Oh that’s clever, yes I’m Ant-Man.’ But there’s still the part of me that’s like, it’s a little emasculating to have a little tiny chair. But at least, finally, one that will actually fit me when I sit down.”

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18, 2026.
