FBI joins search for missing Owen County teen last seen March 31

CUNOT, Ind. — April 9, 2026
The FBI has joined the Owen County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police in the search for a missing 17-year-old girl last seen last week in Owen County.
Lexie M. Mitchell was last seen around noon March 31 at her home in Cunot, according to a news release from the FBI’s Indianapolis Division.
Mitchell is described as a white female with long red or auburn hair and blue-green eyes. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white windbreaker-style jacket and white boots.
Authorities said investigators are actively working to determine her whereabouts and are asking for the public’s help.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Indiana State Police Putnamville Post at 765-653-4114. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
Indiana State Police and the Owen County Sheriff’s Office are the lead agencies in the case. The FBI said it is assisting by providing resources.
