There’s an IKEA Crossover Coming to Pokémon Pokopia

Pokémon Pokopia, the game where you build a dream world for your pocket monsters, will host a collaboration with furniture giant IKEA.

In many ways, an IKEA crossover makes sense. Pokopia, like Animal Crossing, allows you to furnish homes for your Pokémon with stylish items. There’s something similar in Pokopia’s simple, minimalist aesthetic to IKEA’s world-famous Billy bookcases and Kallax shelves.

Beginning tomorrow, April 1, Pokémon’s homeland of Japan will offer real-life Pokopia-themed locations in many of its IKEA stores, with outlets featuring stamp rallies, stickers and even themed food offerings in their restaurants.

Closer to home, anyone with a copy of the hugely-popular Nintendo Switch 2 life sim can also visit “IKEA Island” virtually. The in-game address for this island will be revealed tomorrow, though a website for the promotion already offers a sneak peek, with buildings themed around Pikachu and Snorlax. There doesn’t seem to be any all-new furniture here, but it may provide some inspiration for your own efforts at home improvement.

Allegedly, this island was created by actual IKEA employees. If you fancy popping over, you have from tomorrow until 23:59 on Tuesday, June 30, to take a peek.

If you’re looking for some more ideas for your own island right now, it’s worth checking out some of the other weird and wonderful things people are building in Pokémon Pokopia, with the most advanced creations so far including a working calculator. Other fans, meanwhile, have leant into the series’ lore (something Pokopia very much does already) by finally hiding Mew under a truck.

Pokémon Pokopia has been a hit for Nintendo, which has trumpeted sales of more than 2.2 million copies for the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. The game is currently busy hosting a Hoppip event, layered on top of its core quest to complete the game’s Pokédex — for which we’ve got extensive Wiki guides right here to help you. Check out our list of all the Pokémon in Pokopia, and take a look at our Things to Do First in Pokopia guide to make the most of your first few days. To help you get started, we’ve also got a list of 17 things that Pokopia doesn’t tell you, plus How to Raise the Environment Level and How to Raise Pokémon Comfort Level.
