EPCAMR, volunteers to clean up Tomhicken Road

ROCK GLEN – Volunteers are assembling to help clean up a local roadway and they’re looking for your help.

The Eastern Pennsylvania Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation (EPCAMR), in partnership with the Friends of the Nescopeck Creek watershed association, Black Creek Township, Keep PA Beautiful, and PennDOT, is planning a cleanup next month of the Tomhicken Road.

The event is set for April 18 from 10am to 2pm and volunteers will gather at the Black Creek Township Municipal Building, 1980 Tomhicken Road.

A 50-year cleanup volunteer, Mary Welsh, 76, will be an honorary volunteer. She lives along the Rock Glen Road.

Food, water, and safety gear will be provided.

Black Creek Township will pick up the trash bags along the roadway afterward.

Most of the debris, EPCAMR says, is trash, fast food bags, beer cans, some tires, and many plastic jugs.
