Concerned Scientists @ IU to host April 14 candidate forum focused on science policy

Staff report

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — March 16, 2026

Concerned Scientists @ IU will host a candidate forum focused on science, technology and environmental policy on Tuesday, April 14, at the Downtown Branch of the Monroe County Public Library.

The 2026 CSIU Candidate Forum is scheduled for 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. in the library’s main auditorium and is free and open to the public.

Organizers said five of the six candidates registered for the election in Indiana’s 9th Congressional District are expected to participate: Jim Graham, Brad Meyer, Tim Peck, Keil Roark and Floyd Taylor. Incumbent U.S. Rep. Erin Houchin was invited but will not be able to attend, according to the announcement.

Concerned Scientists @ IU said the event is one of the nation’s only candidate forums centered specifically on science-related policy issues.

The forum is being co-sponsored by Advocates for Science @ IU, the League of Women Voters of Bloomington-Monroe County, Citizens’ Climate Lobby of South Central Indiana and the Green Sanctuary Task Force of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington.

The primary election is set for May 5, with early voting beginning April 7.

Organizers said the event also will be livestreamed on the Advocates for Science @ IU YouTube channel for those unable to attend in person.
