Tito’s Burritos & Wings To Close Three Remaining Locations

Tito’s Burritos & Wings will shutter its last three New Jersey spots on March 1. This ends 21 years in business. The chain posted a letter on its website announcing the closures.

“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of this journey – whether you came to know Tito’s recently or have been with us since the beginning in May of 2005 – your support, stories, celebrations, and countless shared meals have meant more to us than we can ever fully express,” the restaurant chain wrote in its farewell message.

One store manager said the owners decided to close because sales had dropped in recent years, according to Village Green NJ. The owners couldn’t be reached for comment.

The final spots in Ridgewood, Summit, and South Orange will close next week. South Orange has hosted customers downtown for 11 years.

The first shop opened in May 2005. This Mexican food chain built fans across North Jersey over two decades.

QSR named Tito’s one of the “Hottest Startup Fast Casuals” back in 2021 and former Governor Chris Christie ate at the Morristown shop often.

Tito’s specialized in burritos made with traditional Mexican ingredients. Director of Operations Victoria Reyes told the Daily Record that catering was big for parties like the Super Bowl or Cinco de Mayo.

Several shops closed before this final shutdown. Morristown and Tenafly went dark in 2023. Boonton shut down years ago.

The South Orange restaurant took part in Food Strolls and partnered with Seton Hall’s WSOU radio station. Tito’s donated food to groups helping people without enough to eat and provided meals for health care workers at area hospitals during COVID.

“We are incredibly grateful for the community that grew around this little restaurant, and we will carry those memories with us always,” the farewell letter stated. “We wish you and your families all the very best in the years ahead.”

The restaurant invited customers to visit one last time before the doors close for good on Sunday, March 1.
