New Jersey Manufacturing Groups Launch Second Annual Coolest Thing Contest

The New Jersey Business & Industry Association and the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program have kicked off nominations for the 2026 Coolest Thing Made in New Jersey competition. Submissions close March 20. Manufacturers from every corner of the state can enter.

Both organizations run this competition through their Manufacturing Counts partnership, with Withum stepping up as presenting sponsor.

Last year’s inaugural competition pulled in nearly 40,000 online votes. Geared Power from Wayne claimed victory with its BioGuard UVC mask.

“We are thrilled to bring the momentum of this competition back for a second year and excited to welcome Withum as our presenting sponsor this year,” said Michele Siekerka, president and CEO of NJBIA, according to a news release. “In seeking out the Coolest Thing Made in New Jersey, we are bringing well-deserved attention to the many companies and their creations that make the Garden State one of the greatest manufacturing states in the nation.”

Peter Connolly, chief executive officer of NJMEP, discussed how this competition shines a light on products made within state borders. “It is our honor to shine a spotlight on the products that inspire innovation, power our industries, and help improve our everyday life here in New Jersey,” Connolly said. “We look forward to repeating the tremendous engagement we saw in the inaugural year of this competition to bring attention to our deserving candidates.”

After nominations wrap up, multiple voting rounds begin. Round one spans March 24 through March 30 and pulls in every nominee.

The top 16 products battle it out from April 1 through April 6. Then the top eight face off from April 8 through April 13.

A final showdown with the top four products happens from April 15 through April 20. Organizers plan to announce the winner on May 21 during the State of the State of Manufacturing event at the State House, though this depends on the legislative schedule.

The winning company receives recognition as the Coolest Thing Made in New Jersey. Winners also get featured in New Jersey Business Magazine and Manufacturing Matters Magazine.
